While My Guitar Gently Weeps.png

For this assignment, I decided to use the latest song I learned to play on the guitar and one of my favorites, “While My Guitar Gently Weeps” by George Harrison. My first process was to download an image of earth from the internet as my background layer. This would correlate with the lyric, “I look at the world and I notice it is turning.” I then used a picture of the new guitar that I just purchased. I like that it has the tree of life embossed on the neck. I then spent some time looking for the perfect teardrop which I found on pixabay. For my last image, which I also found on Pixabay, was a graphic of stick people of different colors in the shape of a heart for the lyric “I look at you all, see the love there that’s sleeping.” I used another image of stars that I found on the internet and used that as another layer with an opacity level of 34%. I entered as text the two lyrics that match the images I chose and arched them to match the curvature of the earth. I then did an inner shade for a dramatic effect. This was a great experience and helped to reinforce and improve my photoshop skills. I don’t know what I could do to improve the experience next time around based on my present skill and knowledge.

Octopus Garden

When asked about his song, ‘Octopus Garden’, Ringo stated: “He (a ship captain) told me all about octopuses, how they go around the sea bed and pick up stones and shiny objects and build gardens.  I thought, ‘How fabulous!’ because at the time I just wanted to be under the sea, too.  I wanted to get out of it for a while.”

This project started out as something else I was thinking of doing.  I just bought my first electric guitar and I was playing around with an idea of having an octopus with its 8 arms wrapping itself around it. I thought, “if only I had 8 arms, I could play half as good as Clapton.”

I then remembered about the Beatle song, My Octopus Garden and decided that this would make for an interesting compilation.  My first process was to download various instruments to have the octopus’s playing, but then I decided to instead use other sea objects to replace the actual music instruments.

I picked environments and objects to follow as close as possible the various lyrics in the song:

I’d like to be under the sea in an octopus’s garden in the shade

In an Octopus’s garden near a cave

The coral that lies beneath the waves

I threw in the yellow submarine as a reminder of another Ringo song.

Professional Logo

I enjoyed putting this logo together, especially since I just started this business last year.

For a logo, I decided on doing a puzzle with one of the pieces separated away from the other three pieces with a hand holding it as if to show “resolution”.  I found an image that I liked on Bing so I traced that image to show my skills at using the pen tool.  I then copied that layer three more times to create the four pieces, free transforming each one to move to the appropriate place on the canvas.

I then added my text around the puzzle pieces.  I used a font I found on DaFont called Money Money Plus for the name of the business.  For a special effect, I used a path to rotate the top half of the text.  I used Gothic Medium for my information on the bottom of the logo. I also used Gabriola for my email address font.  I had trouble deciding on what to do with the text to show my skills at changing it, so I decided to use the $ at the very top and show extensions from that symbolizing money falling from heaven. I found an image on Bing of money flying so I did a select and mask on that.  I then used shape tool to symbolize coins and used two different colors, copper and silver.
